Obituary of Margaret Ann "Peggy" Nichols

Margaret Nichols Bainbridge, NY Margaret (Peggy) Ann Nichols, 78 of Bainbridge, unexpectedly went to the Lord Monday, March 15, 2010. She was born December 12, 1931, daughter of the late Walter H. and Hazel (Knorr) Canfield, Sr. in Honesdale, PA. Margaret married Paul L. Nichols June 25, 1950 in Sidney, NY. Margaret worked for Kent's Department Store in Sidney before being stricken with polio in 1950. She continued her battle, and recuperated while she raised her family and being a homemaker. She enjoyed using her hands to create beautiful things by crocheting, needlepoint, quilting, drawing, scrapbooking, playing the piano and cards. Mostly she loved spending time with family and friends as well as paper dolls and teddy bears. Margaret is survived by her 8 children: George W. and Christina Nichols, Montie C. and Rosa Nichols, David G. and Linda Nichols, Daniel S. Nichols, Kathy A. and Rodney Smith, Tracy S. Nichols and Bonnie Halthyser Shields, Linda E. Plows and Ralph Harp, Jr., and Betsy and Tim Woodard. 19 Grandchildren and 18 Great-grandchildren Brother, Walter H. and June Canfield, Jr. Columbia, SC Sister, Lucille and Dr. Sheldon H. Barnes, Melbourne, FL Sister-in-law, Ruth Baldwin, Unadilla Several cousins, nieces, nephews, uncle and aunts Friends may call Monday, March 22, 2010 from11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Fred Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Valley Humane Society 101 East Main St. Sidney or the Polio Assoc. at www.polioassociation.org or to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney.
