Alma Saunders Afton, NY Alma Saunders, 81, of Afton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018 after a long battle with kidney disease. She was born in Grayson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late James C. Lasley and Dolores Lasley. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Saunders in 1986, as well as brothers, Kenneth, Percy, Arvel and Everett, and sisters, Thelma and Wilma (all of Kentucky). She is survived by her children: Brenda Kappauf, Greene; Cheryl (Walter) Carr, Afton; Dolores Saunders, Afton; and William (Penny) Saunders, Jr., Afton; grandchildren: Robert (Kimberly) Kappauf, III, Bainbridge; Tiffany Carr, Afton; Brandon (Cassie Safford) Carr, Afton; Christina (Mikol Mesko) Harvey, Afton; and Christina (Keith) Karn, Utah; great-grandchildren: William, Samuel, and Levi Kappauf, Bainbridge and Anna Knapp, Afton as well as several step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, James Lasley, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2:00-3:00pm on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will begin at 3:00pm at the funeral chapel with burial to follow in Hambletville Cemetery, Deposit.
