Betty Hogan Yale, Unadilla
Betty Yale passed away Thurs January 11, 2018 at Chestnut Park Rehab/ Nursing Home in Oneonta after a brief illness.
Betty was born March 11 1930 On Bear Spring Mountain in Walton to the late Mary Fisher & LaFayette Ellett.
Betty spent her child hood & young adult life in Sidney. She was always at the roller skating rink where she sang with her cousins "The Fisher Brothers Band". She was always telling of how she enjoyed setting the bowling pins by hand at the Bowling Alley back in the day.
Betty married John Hogan September 11, 1949 in Pa. They made their home on Upper East Street in Walton. Betty was a stay at- home mom. She was at every event her children participated in. He predeceased her February 19, 1976.
On August 24, 1980 Betty married Melvin Yale
They lived in Walton until 1987 when they retired and moved to Florida.
Loving the warm weather they traveled the country side. They loved to dance & went all over 2 stepping & Square dancing. They moved back to NY five years ago to be near family.
Mel predeceased her on July 31, 2017.
Betty is survived by her Children: Karen & Jeff Glasner, Walton; Mike & Shelly Hogan, Walton; Sheri and Bob Ruff, Sidney; Step-daughters: Melanie and Louise Yale, Fl and Kathy and Mike Head, Fl; Grandchildren: Matthew {Heather} McCoy of Indiana, Shawn {Marybeth} McCoy, Of SC, Mandi Stratton, Mike {Joanne} Hogan, of Walton, Jody {Corey} Hitt, of Masonville, Jerrod {Liz} Hitt, of Greene, Jeremy {Shannon} Ruff, of RI, Jarret {Shelby} Ruff of Sidney, Jessica{Scott} Taggert of Franklin; A Very Special Niece, Dee Dee Cable of Sidney; as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins.
Betty was also predeceased by her her Sister, Martha Armstrong, brother, LaVern Ellett and granddaughter, Kelly {McCoy} Swiatek
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the special nurses at Chestnut Park, especially Tanya, Joanne and Lynn, who took such great care of Betty.
A graveside service for Betty & Melvin Yale will be in the spring.
