Andrew A. Peterson
Sidney—Andrew A. Peterson, 73, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Andy was born on November 29, 1943 in Oneonta, son of the late Andrew and Helen Dora (Winslow) Peterson. He grew up in Bainbridge where he was a proud Eagle Scout. He received his Associates Degree from Morrisville.
On November 28, 1970, Andy was married to MaryAlyce MacArthur in Hobart, NY. Upon completing his apprenticeship at Bendix Corp., they moved to Massena where Andy worked for General Motors. In 1974, they returned to Sidney, where he worked as a Design Engineer for Amphenol Corp., retiring in 2013 with over 43 years of service to the company.
In the summer, Andy could often be found at the family camp on Otsego Lake. He loved boating and fishing, and was a talented water-skier with a knack for teaching; over the years he taught countless people how to water-ski. He liked going out to eat, riding his bike, woodworking and doing projects for his daughters. Andy enjoyed playing town softball, basketball or golfing, and was local youth sports enthusiast, attending many of the high school football and basketball games.
He will be missed by: his wife of 46 years, MaryAlyce Peterson of Sidney; two daughters: Audra Peterson of Bainbridge and Erica and Jose Espaillat of Jupiter, FL; grandchildren, Andres, Alycia and Ana Espaillat and his granddog, Cooper; brother, Gary Peterson of Sanford, NC, nieces and nephew, Alysha, Katelin and Garrett, and many friends.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 11:00am-2:00pm and 4:00-7:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 11th in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to a local Boy Scout troop, or to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 E. Main St. Sidney, NY 13838.
