Betty Lou McCall Bainbridge, NY Betty Lou McCall, 74 of Bainbridge, NY and Zephyrhills, FL passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at HPH Hospice in Dade City, FL. Betty was born on January 10, 1936, the youngest of eight children to Harry Cecil and Sadie (Mead) Stringer in Rock Rift, NY. She attended the Rock Rift School, as well as the Baptist Church. On April 13, 1950, Betty married Willard McCall in Baltimore, MD. Willard predeceased her on April 30, 1974. Betty worked at Bendix (Amphenol Corp.) for 30 years as an Inspector in the Quality Control Dept. Betty lived many places and loved to travel, making many friends along the way. She lived a simple life. Betty loved to bowl. She read thousands of books in her lifetime, and was never without one in her hand, pocketbook or car. She was a yard sale enthusiast, and she greatly enjoyed gardening, chatting online with family and friends, farming on Facebook, playing cards and country music. Betty was a loving mother with a big heart, giving all she could and never keeping much for herself. She was loved by all who knew her. She gave her heart to the Lord on January 7, 2010 and is now at peace and free from pain. Her long time companion Cliff Perry, precious dog Mitt, long time friend Shirley Holmes and all eight of her children were with her in her final weeks, and celebrated her 74th birthday with her on January 10th. Betty will be sadly missed by surviving family and friends including: Loving companion, Cliff Perry and beloved dog, Mitt of Zephyrhills, FL Eight children: Rose and Vern Westcott of Lakeland, FL, David McCall of Afton, Deborah and David Tuthill of Treadwell, Karen and David Jones of Sidney, Bill and Terri McCall of Afton, Lori Sickafus and Norm Demicle of Lakeland, FL, Russell McCall of Bainbridge and Melissa Collins of Afton. Nineteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter, Willow Sky Store. Dear friend, Shirley Wood of Walton. As well as many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by all seven of her older siblings: Isabelle Stringer, Helen Angotta, Stella Whitaker, Ethal Brigham, Daryle Stringer, Edward Stringer and Richard Stringer; as well her grandson Timothy Scofield and her granddaughter, Ellie Jayne Jones. Friends are invited to call Thursday, January 28, from 6-8 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 29, at 11:00 AM at the funeral chapel with Rev. Fred Albrecht officiating. Burial will take place in Walton Cemetery, Walton, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's name may be directed to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 East Main Street Sidney, NY 13838.
