Obituary of Louise R. Eggleston

Louise R. Eggleston Afton—Louise Ruth Eggleston, 80, longtime resident of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law. Louise was born on September 28, 1936, daughter of the late Norris and Lena (Darlin) Butts in Bainbridge. On October 16, 1954, she was married to Donald O. Eggleston. She worked for many years as a Production Expeditor for Amphenol. She and Don moved to Jacksonville, FL until Don retired, when they returned to Bainbridge. They shared 52 years of marriage until he predeceased her on February 5, 2007. Louise, lovingly known as "Grandma Cookie" loved cooking, crocheting, reading, gardening and traveling. Most importantly though, was spending time with her grandchildren. Louise was deeply loved and will be missed by: her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Lora Eggleston of Afton; daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Brian Patten of Greene; 5 granddaughters: Torey Patrick of Afton; Tiffany and Mike Kelly of Camden, Del.; Stacey and Mark Terebo of Sidney; Stephanie and Jeff Brown of Bainbridge and Melissa Patten of Albany; 13 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Darren Eggleston of Buffalo; brother, Graydon Butts of Masonville; sister-in-law, Karin Eggleston of Bainbridge; special friend of 67 years Bonnie Webb of Bainbridge as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Don, Louise was predeceased by her special dog, Muffin; two brothers, David and Donald Butts; two sisters, Janet Knapp and Betty Bishop; and her brothers-in-law, Jim Eggleston and Louie and Marilyn Eggleston. Friends may call from 11:00am-1:00pm on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Zion Episcopal Church, 10 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778. Memorial services will begin at 1:00pm at the church with Fr. David Hanselman officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St. Norwich, NY 13815.
