Ethel Schweickert Sidney, NY Ethel Schweickert, 98 of Sidney, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Otsego Manor in Cooperstown, where she's resided for the past six years. Ethel was born on September 17, 1911, daughter of the late Sidney and Effie (Middleton) Smith in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, England. Ethel went to business school and was Head Teller with Bankers Trust in Binghamton before her retirement, of which she was very proud. On March 14, 1932, Ethel married James Presley, who predeceased her in June 1939. She later married George Brenchley on February 13, 1948. He predeceased her in February 1952. On June 4, 1954, Ethel married George Schweickert in Valley Stream. George predeceased her in May 1979. Ethel is survived by: Daughter and son-in-law: Ethel and Louis Lembo of Sidney Stepson: George Schweickert of Queens Daughter-in-law: Patricia Presley of Whitney Point 10 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren Brother: George Smith of Tennessee Sister: Audrey Roseman of Babylon Niece, Estelle Leach and nephew, Evan Presley, both of Binghamton As well as several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends In addition to her husbands, Ethel was predeceased by her son, James Presley in August 1998; two brothers, Charles Smith and Harold Smith; and sister, Margaret Coluzzi. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 12noon-2:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral chapel with Fr. Gordon Polenz of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney, officiating. Burial will be private in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
