SIDNEY—Jerry Alan Barney, 61, passed away on May 6, 2017 at Norwich Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born on December 4, 1955 in Binghamton, son of James H. Barney and Sandra (Harrington) Barney.

 

Jerry attended Sidney School. He was a talented welder and was employed by several area businesses in that capacity. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and looking for Indian artifacts.

 

He is survived by his father and step-mother, James and Donna Barney of Mt. Upton; sisters and brothers: Debra Graham, Ellen, William and Kenneth Cogshall; his uncle, Glen Cogshall, and good friend, Pat Vaughn.

 

He was predeceased by his mother, Sandra Cole, and two brothers, Jim, Jr. and Jeff.

 

Friends may call from 1:00-2:00pm on Thursday May 11, 2017 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. Chester Shew officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Mt. Upton. Memorial gifts in his memory may be directed to the Building Fund, First Baptist Church, Mt. Upton.
