Michael R. Buchanan
Bainbridge—Michael R. Buchanan, 54, passed away unexpectedly on February 1, 2017 from injuries sustained in a snowmobiling accident. Mike was born on January 27, 1963, son of Robert and Jean (Backus) Buchanan in Walton, NY. He graduated from Sidney Central School with the Class of 1981 and attended Alfred State.
Mike was a hard worker and dedicated employee. He worked for many years at Butts Concrete and TRL and most recently drove truck for Waste Recovery Enterprises, LLC. He loved the outdoors, especially snowmobiling and hunting; and was a member of the Bainbridge Sportsmans Association. Mike could often be found spending time in his garage with family and friends; he loved being around people. He was fun loving and would make friends wherever he went. His family, especially his grandchildren, were Mike's world.
Mike will be missed by his three sons: David and McKenzie Buchanan of Bainbridge, Steven Buchanan and Alyssa Bailey of Masonville and Mark Buchanan of Bainbridge; his beloved grandchildren, Mason and Emerie; his parents, Bob and Jean Buchanan of Masonville; two sisters: Cindy and Terry Constable of Sidney Center and Chris Switkowski and Steve Rosa of Brewerton; nephew, Travis and nieces, Ashley and Briana; several cousins, and many close friends, including the Rosa family which was like a second family to Mike. He also leaves behind his canine companions, Diesel and Yager.
Friends are invited to call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm on Monday, February 6, 2017 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 7th at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge. Memorial donations in Mike's name may be directed to the charity of one's choice. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.landersfh.com.
