Joan Kathleen (O'Connell) Moisan Joan Kathleen (O'Connell) Moisan age 76, passed away in her sleep on November 4, 2016 at Westminster Towers Nursing Home in Orlando, Florida. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Daniel Francis O'Connell and Josephine (Schneck) O'Connell. She was the youngest of four children. She is survived by her three sisters ,Mary (Greenlawn, NY), Betty (Surprise, AZ), and Eileen (Selden, NY). Joan is survived by her husband of 56 years Skip, daughters Karen (Don), and Elizabeth (Brian), her sons Tom (Karen), Kevin (Juli), and Kenneth. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher, Kristen, Meghan, Michael, Katherine, Kendra, and Kierra. As well as three great-grandchildren, Addyson, Bradyn, and Kylie. Joan met Thomas A. (Skip) Moisan, while working in a supermarket in Greenlawn, NY. They were married at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Greenlawn, NY. They settled into a home in Cold Spring Harbor, NY and raised 5 children. The Moisan family was surrounded by family and friends while living on Long Island. Joan was a member of Cold Spring Harbor Fire Dept's Ladies Auxliary and she could be seen at various parades, Firematic events, and shopping, with her children in tow. She celebrated her Irish heritage and danced the Irish jig. Mom loved to sing and dance, and she taught us the "double dutch." In the summer of 1976 the family moved to Afton NY. Joan and Skip began owning and operating the Norwich Fish Market, in Norwich NY. Their home in Afton was always open and they welcomed friends and family. Many of her children's friends passed through their home while growing up. Their home was known for its family cookouts, parties and dinners. Joan and Skip together enjoyed supporting Afton Fire Dept. The family were longtime members of St Agnes Catholic Church in Afton. Joan could be found in the local community with her lifelong friend Marie Lopez enjoying shopping or a bite to eat together. Mom had a great big heart and always gladly helped anyone in need. In the summer of 2007 Joan and Skip moved to Orlando, FL, to be closer to family. Joan's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Afton, NY on Saturday November 19, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Calling Hours will be held prior to the Mass, from 12:00 - 12:45. The Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Afton following the Mass. The family will greet family and friends at the River Club in Afton immediately after the Burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joan's memory may be directed to the Sidney Food Pantry, 12 Liberty St. Sidney, NY 13838. Condolences may be shared online at www.landersfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
