Bob was always an entrepreneur. His first business was in 1962 when he owned Manderville Auto Wrecking on Martin Brook Road, Unadilla, NY. After moving to Coventryville, many may remember Bob from the antique/ auction businesses. Through the years he owned/ operated with his family, the Coventry Service Center, Antique Warehouse, Hilltop Auction House and Mandervilles Grocery all in Coventryville, NY. Bob and his family traveled all over the east coast together doing antiques/ auctions. From locally to Georgia and Kentucky. The thing he liked to talk with people the most about when reminiscing about his auction house was the time that Troy Aikman, quarterback for Dallas Cowboys, showed up to his auction and bought a rocking horse. He always felt protected during his sales as so many BCI, FBI and police officers were amongst his buyers. He along with his wife also owned the Dollar Smart on Main Street, Sidney, NY. He wasn’t only an entrepreneur he was employed as a machinist for Bendix and a union carpenter of Local 281, Johnson City, NY. Bob could build anything. At an early age he drafted plans of building a home for his family. In 1964 he put those plans in place. Made a beautiful home with his loving wife for their 5 children and whomever else came along that needed a place to stay. In 1975 he had a plan to build again. Him and his wife built the auction house that resides on the property. Bob worked for many construction outfits in his later years. Many of you may have driven over some of his handy works. Interstate 88, 81, 17 to name a few. He was able to help build the 81 17 split in Binghamton/ Johnson City, NY area. Not only was he able to be a part of these highways being built, he was able to see these highways in later years blown up and rebuilt to accommodate todays heavier traffic. How many of you utilize the Decker Center at the Wilson Hospital, The Oakdale Mall or the sewer plants in the Binghamton area? Yes Bob had his hands into those projects as well. Bob was quite the character at his work. Stan Gage, Stan Jennings, George Frost to name a few were his work family.
