Alton E. DeForest
Unadilla, New York
Alton E. DeForest, 71 of Unadilla, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2009 at his home. Alton was born on January 26, 1938, son of the late Alton and Margaret (Herwagen) DeForest in Unadilla. Alton was a graduate of Unadilla High School Class of 1955. On July 1, 1962, Alton married Patricia Knight in Sidney. Together, they shared 47 years of love and marriage. For ten years, Alton was a member of The Teamsters Union. Later, Alton founded A&P Disposal Service, Inc. in Unadilla, NY. For the past 39 years, the truck always ran and never missed a day. He was an automotive enthusiast: he loved his hot rod cars, and was a member of the Rods & Relics Car Club. Alton loved to collect: he was a known wheel and dealer. He was also a true 'people person' and enjoyed socializing. Al was an avid Nascar fan. He also had a deep love for animals. He found great pleasure in maintaining his property: his yard was always well manicured, and his equipment well maintained. Al and Pat took some crazy trips. On a memorable trip to Hawaii, they visited the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA and have been members of the Eagles Club for 30 years.
