Mark Hendrickson, age 27, of Asheville, North Carolina and formerly of Unadilla, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at approximately 4:15 PM in Asheville.
Mark was born in Oneonta, NY on July 23, 1988 to Christopher Hendrickson and Sandra (Raethka) Hendrickson. He grew up in Unadilla, NY and graduated from Unatego High School with the Class of 2007. He was an honor roll student and a 3-sport athlete. He went on to attend SUNY IT where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and was awarded the Outstanding Finance Award, an award given to the top finance student in the program. He moved to Asheville in March of 2014 and was most recently the Food and Beverage Cost Controller at the Omni Grove Park Inn, Hotel and Resort. Mark had a great love and excitement for life and you could often find him hiking/camping in the woods, attending live music, boogying on the dance floor and staying active in the gym and playing sports.
Besides his parents, Sandra Derr and Christopher Hendrickson, Mark is survived by his brother, Alex Hendrickson (Alicia Smith), brother, Thomas Hendrickson and Fiancé Erin Aubeuf, and sister, Kate Hendrickson. He is also survived by his step-father, Wendell Derr and stepbrothers, Nate (Dawn) and Luke Derr, and maternal grandfather, Russell Raethka, Jr. He will be especially remembered by his soul mate, best friend, and love Michelle Dorosiewicz. He also leaves behind countless friends.
He was predeceased by his stepmother, Lori Wiltsie, and other extended family members.
Friends are invited to call from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, June 3rd and from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, June 4th at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 4th at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Unadilla Fire Dept. and Emergency Squad, 72 Clifton St. Unadilla, NY 13849 or to the Unatego Athletic Department, PO Box 483 Otego, NY 13825.
