Cpl. Colton James Santic Sidney Center, NY Cpl. Colton James Santic, USMC, 22, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 11, 2016. He was born on February 6, 1994, son of James and Susan (Ploutz) Santic in Oneonta, NY. Colton graduated from Sidney Central School with the class of 2012. He attended SUNY Delhi for a year before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He shipped out for basic training on Father's Day 2013, graduating in September 2013 from boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina. Colt traveled the world and had many friends in the Marines. He was most recently stationed at Camp Lejeune, serving as an electrical engineer. Colton had a passion for fishing, hunting and guns. Growing up, most days he could be found at the creek with his fishing pole in hand; he was even known to get up extra early to get some fishing in before school. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend and will be dearly missed. He is survived by: his parents, James and Susan Santic of Sidney Center; brother and sister-in-law, James and Marisa Orezzoli of Sidney; brother, Clayton Santic of New York City; nephews, Gavin, James and Ayden Orezzoli of Sidney; Grandmother, Dorothy Santic of Sidney; his devoted dog, Bella as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, John F. Santic, Jr., Joan and Russ Lighthall and Richard Ploutz, Sr.; uncles, John "Buddy" Santic, III and James Ploutz, and aunt, Janet Ploutz. Friends are invited to call from 6:00-8:00pm on Monday, April 18, 2016 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 19th at the funeral chapel with Rev. Ernie Varga, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Colton's memory may be directed to the Sidney Center Ladies Auxiliary or to Delaware Valley Humane Society.
