Obituary of Frank Provenzon

Frank Provenzon Sidney, NY Frank Provenzon, 91 of Sidney, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, December 8, 2009 at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford. Frank was born September 10, 1918, son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Pecorra) Provenzon in Sidney. He was a graduate of the Sidney High School Class of 1937. In 1942, Frank joined the United States Army, serving until his honorable discharge in 1946. On June 21, 1947, Frank married Alice Sisson in Franklin, NY and together they celebrated sixty two years of happiness and loving marriage. Frank was a twenty year employee of Amphenol Corp., working as a supervisor until his retirement on December 31, 1980. Frank was a dedicated sixty year member of the Sidney Fire Department, Phelps Hose Co. #1, acting as Fire Chief from 1974-1976. He was also a life member of the Charles L. Jacobi American Legion Post #183 Sidney as well as a past member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #2175 Sidney. Frank was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sidney. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and took great joy in spending time with his family. Frank was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Frank is survived by: Loving wife, Alice Provenzon Son and daughter-in-law: James and Mary Lynn Provenzon 3 Daughters and sons-in-law: Bonnie and Jerry Curtis Patti and James Doi Anne and Philip Pauls Grandchildren: Jill and Michael Brazee, James and Elizabeth Curtis, Juli Howland and Michael Mercurio, Michael and Christy Doi, Christopher and Courtney Doi, Melissa and Lawrence Reffert, Brendon and Rocio Pauls and Alexandra Pauls Great Grandchildren: Erica and Ashley Brazee, Matthew and Alissa Curtis, Taylor George, Riley Howland, Meredith Doi, Avery Doi and Larry Reffert As well as two sisters, Virginia Bennett and Ruth Taylor Frank was predeceased by two brothers, Henry and Samuel, as well as a sister, Mary. Friends are invited to call from 7-9pm on Friday, December 11, 2009 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Fire Department services will be rendered at 8:00pm on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the funeral chapel with Rev. Barbara Green, pastor of the Sidney United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Sidney Fire Department, 72 River St. Sidney, NY 13838.
