Howard E. Bailey 99, passed away April 14, 2023 at the Edith Norse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA. He was born November 2, 1923, son of the late Legrande and Alice Bailey in Morris. Howard graduated from Morris Central School in 1942. In January 1943, Howard was drafted into the United States Army. He served in the Pacific theatre of WWII and was with the occupation forces in Japan. He was honorably discharged in January 1946. Howard married Laraine Russell of Sidney on October 1, 1965. She predeceased him on September 11, 2009. He attended Hartwick College and later worked for the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney. He was a supervisor when he retired after 35 years of employment. Howard was very active as a fisherman and took many trips to Canada. He also loved hunting, trapping and playing golf. He was also a member of the Sidney Golf and Country Club for years. Howard is survived by Son, Scott Bailey and step-son Michael Shapley. Friends may call Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 11:00 and 1:00 pm at CH Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral service will follow at 1:00pm. Burial will military honors will be in Highland Cemetery in Sidney Center.
