Frederick James MacDonald

 

Sidney—Frederick James MacDonald, 86, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Fred was born on November 6, 1930 in Sidney, son of the late Clarence and Doris (Halbert) MacDonald. He attended Sidney Central School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

 

Fred was married to Eleanor (Walters) Grow in 1982. He worked as a plater for many years at Amphenol Corp. in Sidney before his retirement.

 

He was a long time member of Sidney Elks Lodge 2175. He enjoyed camping and golfing, and playing cards. He also loved spending time with his family.

 

Fred will be missed by: his wife, Eleanor MacDonald; daughter, Patricia Rush (Mark) of Casper, WY; two sons: Dale MacDonald of Casper, WY and Timothy MacDonald of Sequim, WA; six step-children: Sandra Thoms (William) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Stephen Grow (Debra) of Johnson City; Timothy Grow (Patricia) of Sidney; Terri Boulay (Michael) of Raleigh, NC; Richard Grow of Sidney and Annette Mertz of Carey, NC; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce MacDonald of Clay, NY and Linda MacDonald of Johnson City.

 

Burial will be private in Sand Hill Cemetery, Wells Bridge. A celebration of Fred's life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Sidney Golf & Country Club, Sidney, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be directed to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 E. Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.landersfh.com.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
