Mary Alice Speckhardt Bainbridge, NY Mary Alice Speckhardt, known to everyone as Alice, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. She was 65 years old. Alice was born on October 11, 1951 in Sylvester, Georgia, daughter of Carl Barnes, Sr. and Rosa (Murphy) Barnes. Alice was a cook at Bob's Diner in Bainbridge for many years and became a well known face and beloved member of the community. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking, camping and raising children. After raising her own children, she had a hand in raising several grandchildren. She'd put food on a plate for anyone who walked through her front door, and was known by many around town simply as "Grandma". Alice loved the town of Bainbridge and the small town life. She made her house a home away from home for many kids over the years, and loved them like they were one of her own. This especially applied to her grandchildren. Alice is survived by: Her husband of 32 years, George Speckhardt Daughter, Cherelle Dickey Three sons: Richard Tallent, Jr., George Speckhardt, III and Justin Dickey 12 grandchildren: Ben Dickey, Steven Speckhardt, Travis Barber, Tiffany Dickey, Destiny Scott, Tabitha Barber, Joseph Cook, Justise Cook, Chase Tallent, Jade Speckhardt, Skylar Speckhardt and Myanna Dickey 14 great-grandchildren: Gunner Dickey, Gabriel Speckhardt, Jordan Speckhardt, Angeli Speckhardt, Lilly Speckhardt, Ashland Brown, Tabitha Brown, David Brown, Trysten Brown, Devin Scott, Alexis Scott, Amelia Scott, Dominic Diaz and Chase Tallent, Jr. Two sisters: Shirley Boyer and Pam Woods Two brothers: Donald Barnes and Ronald Barnes Nieces and Nephews: Tony Barnes, Tonia Tressler, Jason Byrd, Ariel Barnes, Rose Barnes, Carla Barnes, John H. Barnes, Taylor Barnes, Michael Stilwell and David Stilwell Alice was predeceased by her mother, Rosa Barnes Kirkland; father, Carl Barnes, Sr.; and two brothers, Carl Barnes, Jr. and John Barnes. There will be a celebration of Alice's life on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 5:00-7:00pm at Bob's Diner, 26 N. Main St. Bainbridge, NY 13733.
