Obituary of Charlene F. Kozlowski

Charlene K. Kozlowski Sidney, NY Charlene Kennedy Kozlowski, 89, of Sidney, NY, succumbed to a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer on December 29, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Isadore Kozlowski; she was his caregiver for 9 years following a stroke. She was also predeceased by her parents, James and Ada Kennedy; sister, Fay Saterfiel , and brothers: Perry "Toad" Kennedy, James Egbert "Babe" Kennedy, Graham Kennedy, Glendelle "Buddy" Kennedy and Oral Lee Kennedy. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Steve and Cheryl Kozlowski of Bainbridge, and Christine and Tom Lieb of Bainbridge; four grandchildren: Kim and Travis Ives of Sidney; Jinnie and Magnus Erhardt of Brooklyn, Kelsey Lieb of Brooklyn and Dustin Lieb of Sidney; great-grandchildren: Dillon Ives of Sidney, and Astrid and Jesper Erhardt of Brooklyn; and sister-in-law, Lou Quincy Kennedy of Farmerville, LA; as well as many other nieces and nephews. Charlene was born and raised in Farmerville, Louisiana. Charlene was proud of her Southern roots and was always tickled when someone asked if she was from the south; throughout her life she held on to her Louisiana drawl. She met Isadore in 1946 and they married on January 4, 1947. The couple took an extended honeymoon and traveled out west and back, eventually settling in Uniondale, PA to raise their family. In 1961, they moved to Sidney. Charlene was a homemaker, gardener and a wonderful cook. Her signature dishes were southern fried chicken and chicken with cornbread dressing. She loved to go shopping, had a deep appreciation for nature and gardening. She spent many evenings outside watching the birds, rabbits, and squirrels in her yard. Friends are invited to celebrate her memory on Friday, January 6, 2016 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Calling hours will be held from 5:00-7:00pm, followed by a brief service at 7:00pm. In accordance with her wishes, Charlene will be laid to rest in Conway Cemetery in Marion, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlene's name may be directed to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 E. Main St. Sidney, NY 13838.
