Obituary of Randall O. Mertz

Randall O. Mertz Sidney, NY Randall O. Mertz 58 of Sidney passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. He was born January 4, 1958, son of the late Wendelin A. and Eleanor (Norton) Mertz in Sidney. Randy graduated Sidney Central School with the class of 1976. He worked delivering fuel for Suburban Propane for many years and later in sales and service for the Mirabito Fuel Group. Randy loved sports. In school he played football and loved to bowl, having 4, 300 games. He was also popular on the race track at Afton Raceway. He loved his dogs, Brandy and Ringo and his cat, Milo Randy was a proud father, and would dedicate his time to coach softball and baseball when his kids were younger and cheer the loudest at basketball and football games when they were older. Randy was known for his sense of humor and his personality was larger than life. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his Daughter, Jessica Mertz, Rosedale, MD Son, Jarred Mertz, Fort Bragg, NC Brother, Gregory Mertz, Sidney Sister, Wendy McGrady, Kenai, Alaska Step-mother, Sandy Mertz, Unadilla Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews He was also predeceased by his brother, Steve and sister, Deborah McGee Friends may call Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 6-9 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 11:00 AM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel with Rev. Benjamin Shaw officiating.
