Kevin P. Maddalone, a lifelong resident of Sidney, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Kevin Paul Maddalone was born in Oneonta December 15th 1958 to Carol Delello and Joseph Maddalone. Kevin's brother Jim made them a family of four and they landed on Weir Street in Sidney in 1960 with the Susquehanna river in their backyard.

He graduated from Sidney High School in 1977 and shortly after in 1978 he became a laborer for NYSEG. For 25 years he rose through the ranks and in 2003 became Chief Lineman in Sidney after working in the Deposit and Oneonta offices. He retired in 2017 and remained great friends with many of the linemen and UC&M workers he met throughout his career, especially Michael Arcidiacono, Andrew Munn, and Jerry Puffer.

He was a proud member of the Sidney Fire Department for 49 years. He officially joined at the age of 19, but he spent his entire life at the Fire House on River Street. He was deeply committed to the service of others and found some of his greatest friendships at the Firehouse. It was truly his second family which he loved dearly.

Kevin was an avid outdoorsman. He spent years with his son Daniel in Boy Scout Troop 99 camping all over New York State. He climbed many high peaks in the Adirondacks, and loved being on the water whether he was racing canoes or taking a leisurely dip with his dear friends Lee and Tracy Young and his beloved wife, Tamara.

Kevin's life was transformed when he met Tamara in 1979, a true partner who cherished his warmth and kindness and inspired his success in so many facets of life.

They began dating soon after they crossed paths at The General Clinton Canoe Regatta where Kevin placed 6th racing with John Winn. Racing with John sparked his passion for canoeing and he did the 70 mile race 11 times total, 8 with Lee Young and 2 with his son Daniel. Kevin and Tamara were married in 1982 and bought their house in Sidney in 1985 where they remained lifelong residents. Kevin adored the holidays and had a penchant for decorating his home inside and out. His jolly spirit could be felt by anyone nearby, especially his dear sister-in-law Patricia Santoro with whom he spent almost every holiday. His love of decor didn't stop with Christmas as he and Tamara maintained beautiful flower and vegetable gardens all over their property.

Kevin loved music, especially live concerts. He attended many over the course of his life but his favorites to attend were performed by his son Daniel. Daniel was born in 1988 and was his pride and joy. The Maddalones made countless memories of concerts, vacations, trips, holidays, and dinners.

Kevin was always on the move, whether he was out on a walk, helping others in his community, or instructing future lineworkers at SUNY Broome which he had done for the past several years post retirement. Kevin was always impacting people positively. The amount of care and kindness he shared with all he knew is a true testament to the kind of man he was and how he will be remembered by all who met him. Kevin is survived by his wife of 43 years Tamara, his son Daniel (Kelly Ryan), his sisters in-law Patricia Santoro, Marcia Levison (Jake), Carol Vandermark (Steve), Nieces and Nephews Ryan Vandermark (Christina), and their daughter Aurora, Sarah Bess Levison (Karl Lukhaup), and their sons Seeger and Jensen, Aaron Levison (Anna McClain)
