Marion P. Wheeler Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marion P. Wheeler of Sidney, NY. A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend, who peacefully departed this life on July 19, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on August 27, 1929, in St. Patrick, MO, Marion was a shining example of kindness and generosity, touching the lives of all who knew him.
Marion was the cherished son of William and Mary Belle Wheeler of Canton, MO. After graduating from school, he embarked on a fulfilling career with the Amphenol Corporation in Cicero, IL. After distinguishing himself in the rubber molding department, his dedication and skill eventually led him to Amphenol Aerospace in Sidney, NY, where he led his own department until his retirement in 1991.
In 1959, Marion married the love of his life, Roberta Lee Bowling in Chicago, IL. Together, they shared 55 beautiful years of marriage, blessed with three children: Carolyn Ruth, Edie Clarise, and David William. Marion's family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His home was a welcoming haven filled with laughter, warmth, and the aroma of Roberta's baking.
Marion had a profound love for the outdoors, finding joy in fishing, hunting and exploring the natural world. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his wit and wisdom. His generosity and kindness were felt by all, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Marion was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his devoted wife Roberta, and his siblings Robert, Charles, Betty, Mary and Thelma. He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughters Carolyn Andel (Raymond), Edie Houck, his son David, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and soon to arrive great-great grandson. Marion is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who will miss him.
The Wheeler family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Jessica, Jess, Kim, Linn and Brenda for their kindness and support. We are also profoundly grateful for the devoted care of his nurse Jackie, and to the compassionate team from Helios Hospice, especially Gail and Gabby.
A private ceremony will be held in honor of Marion's life, where family and close friends will gather to celebrate his remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Helios Hospice Care of New York, in Marion's name.
Though Marion has left this world, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. We find comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his beloved Roberta and family members who have gone before him. May he rest in eternal peace.
