Rodney George Schultes, 85 of Mt. Upton, passed away on Sunday July 19, 2026, at Wilson

Hospital in Johnson City.

He was born June 18, 1941, son of the late Dwight and Cynthia (Medbury) Schultes in

Bainbridge.

Rodney grew up on his family dairy farm. He graduated from Mt. Upton High School in 1959,

where he enjoyed playing football and basketball.

He married Nancy Delphine Brown on September 17, 1966 in Cincinnatus and together they

built a life rooted in family, community, and hard work. He was a lifelong farmer; he owned the shed business known as Farmyard Enterprises, he also ran Rod’s overhead doors selling garage doors for many years.

Rodney served on the Guilford Town Board for 18 years. He was a private pilot and was a

member of the Chenango County Airport Advisory Board Committee. He also served as

President of Maplewood Cemetery for 28 years. And he was a longtime director of Mt. Upton

Agway.

He is survived by: his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Christine Sherwood (Bradford); his 2 sons, Gary Schultes and David (Jennifer) Schultes and his seven grandchildren, Katherine Schultes (Jacob Darling), Colin Schultes (Kyli Odell), Alexis Sherwood (Jacob Mozgawa), Christopher Sherwood, Cameron Schultes, Nicholas Schultes, and Arianna Schultes; Brother, Harley (Donna) Schultes, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rodney was predeceased by his parents Dwight and Cynthia Schultes, his brother, Lorain

Schultes; and his sister, Mary Shadigian.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 22, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 23, at 11:00am at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mt. Upton.
