Claudia L. Sowersby, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 4, 2026. She was born on August 21, 1941 in Bainbridge, NY.

She was married to David Sowersby on August 5, 1961, and were the first couple to hold their wedding reception at the Elks Club in Sidney. David predeceased her on September 26, 2023 after 62 years of marriage.

Claudia was an LPN, working as an Obstetric Nurse at A.O. Fox Hospital and ultimately retiring from Dr. Edward Eckman's private OB/GYN practice. She enjoyed golfing, crafting and spending time with friends and family. Before Dave's passing, they enjoyed traveling together to the Villages.

Claudia will be missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Carrie Sowersby; grandchildren: Alyssa Sowersby (Tyler Ruhl) and children; Hunter Sowersby, Aaron Sowersby; great-grandson, Cylis Burns; brother, Louis and Pat Parent; niece, Christine Parent; nephew, Michael Parent and his children, League and Walker; sister, Michelle and Guillermo Carrillo; as well as many friends.

In addition to her husband, Claudia was predeceased by her son, Afton Sowersby; her mother, Ruth Parent; her father and stepmother, Louis and Kay Parent; and her in-laws, Afton and Cornelia Sowersby.

There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
