Roger F. Robinson Obituary

Roger Robinson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2026. Known as a master craftsman and farmer, he built a life defined by hard work, deep community roots, and a profound love for his family.

Born in Oneonta on July 15, 1943, to Doris (Russell) and Ralph Robinson, Roger spent his earliest days awaiting his father's return from military service in England. On July 20, 1963, he married Dorothy "Dottie" Krueger. He often joked that Dottie’s background as a farm girl helped seal the deal. By 1975, his ultimate goal was realized, and he became a part-time farmer for more than 25 years. This adventure brought endless tales, including the time Roger decided the ultimate Mother's Day gifts for Dottie were live calves and piglets.

Alongside farming, Roger dedicated 46 years to Amphenol as a master welder. He took immense pride in knowing that the components he crafted were actively circling above in space stations. Following his 2008 retirement, he and Dottie embraced a life of travel, taking cross-country RV trips to Alaska and California, and later spending winters in Florida.

A cornerstone of his local community, Roger was an original founder of the O-T-GO Sno-Goers snowmobile club in 1971. Through the club, he helped spearhead numerous fundraising events for local cystic fibrosis efforts, and he created a lifetime of memories on snowmobile trips to the north and Canada. Among all his riding adventures, a favorite lifelong memory was a special father-and-son snowmobile trip to Yellowstone with Rodney. He was also a proud member of the Sidney Elks Lodge #2175.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Dottie; his son, Rodney, and wife, Judy; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Raenelle Robinson; granddaughter and her husband, Miranda and Benedict Schlimmer; great-grandchildren, Rio and Rori. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 7th, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at "The O" at 112 Main St., Otego, with a brief service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Otego Fire Department, or a charity of your choice.
