Lewis John Peck Obituary

Lewis John Peck, 70, of Unadilla, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Lew was born in Deposit, NY to Kenneth and Janetta Peck on April 5, 1956. He was a 1974 Sidney High School graduate and proudly served his country as a radio repairman in the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 50+ years, Terry; daughters: Alana (Brian) Palmatier; Jennifer (Daniel) Wells; Karli (Jeremy) Alward; grandchildren: Raegan and Leilynn Palmatier; Samuel, Maxwell, and Sadie Wells, Connor, Jacob (Mikayla) and Ryan Alward, great-grandchildren: Luca and Ezio Alward; brothers: Gregory Peck (Carolyn Heannings), Edwin (Teresa) Peck; sisters: Kaye (Sante) Silvestri; Maureen (Louis) Paveglio; sister-in-law Gloria Montgomery (Richard Haynes), brother-in-law Daniel (Janey) Stringer; Forever fishing brother: Terry (Cindy) Peck as well as cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.

Lew was preceded in death by his mother and father, Janetta and Kenneth Peck; brother Alan, mother-in-law and father-in-law Lucelia and Ivan Stringer; brother-in-law Randy Stringer; sisters-in-law Penny Stringer and Nancy Peck and niece Amber Montgomery.

While he took pride in his work and his service, Lew was the ultimate family man; his wife, their three daughters and their families were quite simply his entire world. He poured his heart into watching his family grow, and nothing brought a bigger smile to his face or a warmer spark to his eyes than a room filled with the laughter and chaos of his kids and grandkids or a barbecue with family and friends under his big, white tent.

He taught his family how to cast a line, how to navigate rough waters, and, most importantly, how to show up for the people you love.

"Semper Fi, Dad. Your workbench may be quiet, and your favorite fishing spot may be still, but the love you built into this family will remain unbroken forever."

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 5 at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney. A Celebration of Lew's life will follow, beginning at 12:00noon at the Sidney American Legion, 22 Union Street, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Sidney Veterans Memorial Park Association.
