David G. Price Obituary
David G. Price, 87, a lifelong resident of Bainbridge N.Y. and retired businessman, passed peacefully from this world on the evening of February 11, 2026.
David was born March 11, 1938. Son of Stanley G. and Dorothy C. Price of Bainbridge.
Following high school David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and for a time was stationed in the Azores. He served his country with pride from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1960.
He worked for many years at Scintilla- Bendix Electrical Components Division where he successfully completed the toolmaking apprenticeship. He went on to become a process engineer and cost estimator.
After taking an early retirement from Bendix-Allied Chemical he earned a bachelor degree in business administration from Fordham University. In 1986 he built and was sole proprietor of the Susquehanna Motor Lodge. A few years later he added the Riverside RV and Campground. He ran them both until their sale and his retirement in 2018 at the age of 80.
Dave was an avid canoe racer and among the founding organizers of, and participants in, the General Clinton Canoe Regatta. He was a member of the 700 Mile Club and their Hall of Fame. Dave worked for many years on committees and promoting the race locally and in Canada.
He was co - owner of Riverside Aquatics, a tropical fish store in Sidney which they sold in 1977.
Dave was a member of the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce. He was a dedicated golfer. He enjoyed traveling, reading historical novels and playing with his cats.
He is pre-deceased by his brother Douglas Price. A proud father, he is survived by his 3 sons, Jeffery T. Price of Fredrixstead St. Croix, USVI, Mark D. Price of Bozeman, Montana and D. Michael Price of Bainbridge; as well as his sisters Marjorie Lewis and Marilyn Forrest both of Bainbridge, as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
David Gorham Price was a dreamer and then he would make it so. He will be sorely missed by his family and all of his friends in the community and at Bob's Diner.
Memories and well wishes can be shared with family and friends at a celebration of life in the banquet room of Bob's Diner Friday, May 22 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm.
