Charles L. Carvin Obituary

After a courageous six-month battle with stage IV pancreatic cancer, Charles "Charlie" LeSuer Carvin, 72 of Mount Upton, NY, passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2026, with his loving wife and children by his side.


Charlie was born in Oneonta, NY on June 18th, 1953. He was a 1972 graduate of Afton Central School District and went on to have a successful career with NYSEG until he retired in 2016. Charlie was dedicated to his community, remaining active with the Masonville Fire Department for 28 years, and helping anyone in need. During the summer months, you could find him as a seasonal camper at the KOA in Unadilla, NY enjoying the outdoors among his many friends and family. Charlie was a dedicated father and grandfather, often found teaching his grandkids one of his many life skills, or attending sporting events and dance recitals. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather "Poppy", and friend to all. To know him was to love him and he will be greatly missed but endearingly remembered always.


Charlie is survived by his wife Amy Carvin, and daughter Danielle (Jacob) Knapp. From his previous marriage, Kathryn Carvin, as well as their daughter and son Christy and Jonathan (Lisa) Carvin. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Ethan (Lilly) Finch, Mia Freudenmann, Chance Carvin, Kinsie Carvin, Johnathan "JJ" Carvin, as well as his great grandson, Ezekiel "Eze" Finch, along with several nieces and nephews. Charlie is also survived by siblings Emma (Tom) McMullen, Lois (John) Sturiale, William (Phyllis) Carvin, and brother-in-law, Ron (Carrie) Decker.


He was predeceased by his mother, Azalea I. Miller, Brother Edwin "Eddy" Carvin, nephew, Edwin Carvin, Jr, in-laws Douglas and Thelma Decker, very special aunt and uncle that raised him – Francis and Virginia Curry, stepfather, Leon Miller, Grandmother Elizabeth Miller, Uncle Charles, and aunts Pauline, Carrie, Betty, and Rosemary.


There will be a graveside service held at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla on June 12th at 2 p.m. Later that day, a celebration of life will be held from 4 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the Sidney Firehouse on River Street for all who would like to pay their respects.
