William Charles (Bill) Brundege, 73 of Sidney, NY, passed away on April 3rd, 2026, in Cooperstown, NY.

Bill Brundege was born in Cannonsville, NY to Gerald and Anna Brundege on August 30th, 1952. He went to high school at Deposit Central School and graduated in 1970. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree with dual majors of elementary education and mathematics. Additionally, he earned a Master of Education from SUNY Albany. He worked as a recreational therapist for the New York State Department of Corrections for 25 years. Post retirement and during his career Bill was heavily involved in substitute teaching at various schools, most recently Unatego Central School in Unadilla, NY. He was also a referee officiating wrestling, basketball, baseball and football throughout his adult life into retirement.

He officiated multiple charity events such as the Gus Macker Basketball Tournament. Bill greatly enjoyed playing in softball leagues and coaching youth sports, most recently Pee Wee football in Sidney, NY. He was heavily involved in Boy Scouts throughout his life to include volunteering as a leader of his son's troop. Additionally, he worked closely with Catholic Charities and participated in the Big Brother Big Sister Program. Bill was an avid member of the Gateway Church in Sidney NY where he taught Sunday school.

Throughout his life, Bill was an avid proponent of animal rights. He volunteered at the Delaware Valley Humane Society in Sidney, NY, walking dogs and helping animals find loving homes. He relentlessly continued his mission of finding loving homes for the shelter until his passing.

Bill Brundege is survived by his wife, Elyn Brundege of Sidney, NY, son William Brundege, brother Gerald Jr. Brundege, brother Erpherd (Jim) Brundege, brother Wesley Brundege, grandsons Clark and Walter Brundege. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Anna Brundege.

The family would like to thank AO Fox Hospital in Oneonta NY and Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown NY for all the loving care provided by their excellent staff. Bill felt at home during his lengthy hospital stay. They would also like to thank the director Erin and her fine staff at the Delaware Humane Society for providing Bill a "safe haven" to visit his doggie friends during his prolonged illness.
