Alice May (Cutting) Lockwood, 87, of Afton, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, March 6, 2026. Alice was born on October 9, 1938 in North Sanford, NY, to Alfred N. Cutting, Sr. and Angeline (Hromada) Cutting.

Alice, know to many as Sis or Aunt Sissy was a fixture in Afton, best known for her many years as a chef at the Afton Golf Course. Alice loved cooking for and feeding others - her soups, chilis and salads were comfort foods too many. “Just say yes” became a family mantra, knowing she was going to keep asking if you wanted something to eat until you finally conceded. She was always loving and caring to all she met.

Alice found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including flowers, car rides, and spending time with her family.

She will be missed dearly by her children: Gloria Dibble (Richard), Carol Gormley, Donald Lockwood, Jr. (Joan), Toni Gardner (Kirk), Tammie Lowe (Jeff) and Donna Mallette (Larry); daughter-in-law, Cheryl Lockwood; siblings: Alfred “Sonny” Cutting, Jr. (Betty), Hayes Cutting, Mary Munk (John) and David Cutting (Selena); 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, she always held close to her heart the Lockwood family. She also leaves behind many friends that were like family and ‘kids’ she treated like her own.

In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband, Donald Lockwood, Sr.; longtime companion, Fred Thomas; stepson, David Lockwood; sons-in-laws, Vincent Gormley, Mario Ruttkiewicz Sr. and Donald P. Scott; her siblings and their spouses: Patricia and Orrin Rowe, Doris and David Westoff, Ernie and Donna Cutting and sister-in-law, Roxie Cutting.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to special caregiver, Barbara Doyle, to Guthrie Hospice for their compassion and care, and those from the Kingdom Hall who came to visit with her.

Friends are invited to call from 1-2:30pm on Sunday March 29th 2026 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A memorial service will follow. Burial will take place in the Nineveh Presbyterian Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alice’s memory may be directed to the Afton Emergency Squad.
