Ernest Riesen

1933-2026

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ernest Riesen share the news of his peaceful passing into the presence of his Savior on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Ernie was born on April 30, 1933 in Sidney, NY to Gottfried and Hedwig Riesen. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1951.

He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1956.

Ernie married the love of his life, Betty (Patrick) in 1958. They spent many happy years in Sidney while Ernie worked at Bendix as a tool and die maker, until he was transferred to Jacksonville, Florida. After retirement, Ernie and Betty spent many years in Belleview, Florida. Betty passed away in 2013.

His children will forever remember Ernie as a loving and devoted husband and father. His deep love for God was an inspiration to them and they find comfort in knowing his faith in Christ has been rewarded with eternal life.

Ernie is survived by his daughter Brenda Riesen, daughter Kathy Howe (Dave), son Scott Riesen (Kim), son Gerald Riesen (Mandy), son Bruce Riesen (Donna), 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 13, 2026 from 2:00 – 3:00, Celebration of Life to follow at 3:00.

The family would like to thank the staff at the VA Home in Oxford for the skilled and compassionate care they provided during the past two years.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford or Hospice of Chenango County.
