Barbara Jean Delello Obituary
Barbara Jean Bargher Delello
October 14, 1947 – March 6, 2026 | Age 78
Barbara made her peaceful descent to the Lord on March 6, surrounded by the caring support and tremendous love of her family.
Barbara was predeceased by her father, John Bargher Sr.; her mother, Marian Miner Bargher; and her siblings, John Bargher Jr., Gloria Koegler, Robert Bargher, Burdette Bargher, and Sharon Delello.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, John Delello, and by the three loves of her life—her children: Cindy Davy Price, Lonny (Julie) Davy, and Valery (Jim) Ray. She is also survived by her siblings Paul (Jackie) Bargher, Gary Bargher, Marian (Del) Hoag, Marleen McTague, Darleen (Pete) Ricci, and Regina Teale.
Barbara's love overflowed to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Justin (Jessicca) Davy and their daughter Kinleigh Davy; Kyle (Lyndsey) Davy and their daughters Raylee Goodrich, Lainey Davy, and Sutton Davy; Cody (Paige) Davy and their daughter Eden Davy; Kassidy Davy; Connor Davy; Cierra (Kristopher) Stafford and their daughters Madelyn Stafford, Raelyn Stafford, and Austyn Stafford; Zachary Hartwell and his son Asher Hartwell; Parker Sklenarik; Jakob Price and his daughter Ella Rose Marquis Price; Jilian Price; Kyle (Ashley) Ray and their daughter Kelsey Ray; and Stephanie Ray. Her family was at the center of every part of her life.
Barbara spent much of her career in retail, where she became known for her outstanding customer service. From her early days as a cashier at the A&P Supermarket in Sidney, NY, to her later years at Kmart, customers would often choose her line because they knew they would receive friendly and efficient service. During her time in retail, she received several employee awards recognizing her kindness and dedication to customers.
Barbara was known for her beautiful smile, kindness, friendly spirit, and generosity toward everyone she met. If you went shopping with Barbara, she might suddenly disappear—only to be found in another aisle making friends with a complete stranger. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved being goofy, often dressing up and playing along with her children and grandchildren.
Every holiday was a grand event. Barbara made sure everyone gathered in her tiny house, even if it meant the grandchildren were banished to the kids' table in the entryway. She was also an avid roller skater and bowler. On skates, she could often be seen performing figure eights and the jitterbug. She was known by many as "Dancing Grandma." Barbara would dance wherever she was - whether it was a wedding with an actual dance floor or someone's living room where she created one.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Robert Packer Hospital and Mercy House of the Southern Tier. The professionals at these facilities treated Barb with kindness, compassion, and love, helping make her journey home peaceful.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Ave., Endicott, NY.
Saying that Barbara was a wonderful person would be a great understatement. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her—especially her beloved family, who loved her more than words can express.
As Barb would say, "See ya on the radio."
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 11, from 6:00–8:00 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney, NY 13838. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 12, at 10:00 AM, with a gathering at the American Legion in Sidney, NY to follow. Burial will be held at a later date.
