Beverly S. McCarthy of Sidney, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 13th. Beverly was born July 17, 1936 in Walton, NY to the late Paul and Ruth Smith. Beverly was also stepdaughter to the late Ernie Harvey.
Beverly graduated from Hackensack High School in 1954. She worked at Prudential Life Insurance followed by Keith Clark, Inc. for over 25 years. She then became a Product Consultant for Rediform Business - a division of Moore Business Corp in Clifton, NJ. She married Robert "Bob" McCarthy on June 19, 1982. Beverly started her own business in 1983 where she assisted in developing The Preference Collection for Sun Graphix/Geiger Brothers of Lewiston, ME. She coordinated various agenda programs and journals for over 250 leather & luggage companies including Coach, Hartmann's Luggage, Samsonite, Scully Leather and many other leather manufacturers for over 30 years. Beverly was the beloved wife of Bob McCarthy for 39 years. She is survived by her sister, Sheryl Mott and her husband Ronnie. Beverly loved her family dearly, leaving behind her four children: Amy Farrell (Michael), Craig Wilson (Brenda), Eric Wilson (Marcia), and Heather Coleman (Daniel), as well as her grandchildren: Matthew Farrell (Katie), Adam Farrell (Lara), Erica Harb (Ramzi), Jessica Coay (JD), Austin Wilson (Maryssa), Tara Race (Adrian), Spencer Wilson (Kat), Onilee Wilson, Kevin Coleman, Meghann Coleman, Ryan Coleman (Adriel), Kaitlin Coleman, Connor Coleman, AJ Coleman, Jack Coleman, and Justin Coleman. His great-grandchildren include: (Matthew's) Bradley, Ronan, and Nolan; (Erica's) Mikey, Andrew, Thomas, Dave, and Alex; (Jessica's) Jane, Jack, and Juliette; (Austin's) Willow; (Tara's) Onyx, Ozzie, and Zoey; (Ryan's) Beckham. Beverly also is survived by her stepson, Michael and his two daughters Kelly and Marilee.
Beverly was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sidney, NY and especially loved her LOYO (Living On Your Own) ladies in her ladies' ministry. She truly treasured being able to entertain and bless this group of women. She would beam when she spoke of them.
Anyone who knew Beverly, knew she was a planner - she had a knack for it. She planned countless excursions for both friends and family, as it was truly a ministry of fun for her. She loved blessing her family and friends with memories of good times together. She always said, "I'm leaving you memories you'll always have." All of her kids and grandkids can attest to this! So many trips, cruises, parties and vacations with Mom (and Grandma) for which we are all so thankful for. She truly was the life of the party.
Because Beverly cherished her time with family and friends above all else. We can't think of a better way to remember her than by gathering "her people" together one more time. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, July 18th from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Club 55, Sidney, to celebrate Beverly's 90th Birthday. All who knew and loved her are welcome and encouraged to come help celebrate her amazing life!
