Sharon Margaret Covey Sheldon, 79, of Afton, NY, met the Author of her story and became a new name written in Glory on February 16, 2026. She peacefully entered eternal joy surrounded by her family and hymns of praise.

Sharon was born in Sidney, NY, to Richard and Pauline (Keach) Covey on February 3, 1947. She graduated from Afton Central School in 1966. In 1967, she married the love of her life, David Sheldon, and together they shared 59 devoted years of marriage. Over the years, Sharon worked in several positions and excelled at each one, brightening the lives of all who knew her. Most recently, she was employed by Rinker Agency in Afton.

Sharon adored all living creatures, especially her cats. She found joy in spending time in nature and working in her garden, but above all else she cherished her family. She was a very proud "Gigi" to her two grandsons. Sharon loved gathering with friends and was a regular part of the "McDonald's Crew". A member of Bethel Chapel, her faith in Christ was the steady anchor throughout every season of her life.

She is survived by her husband, David Sheldon of Afton; her daughters, Kimberly Heath of Windsor, CT, and Jennifer Ladner (William) of Waynesboro, PA; her grandsons, Isaiah and Callan; her sister, Beverly Morby (John) of Farmington, CT; dear friends, Connie Petrolle of Endwell, NY, and Sheila Dersham (Jim) of Jamestown, TN; as well as many sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Pauline Covey; her sister, Patricia Fuller; her parents-in-law, Ruth and Robert Hendrickson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney, NY 13838.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Chapel, 3486 NY-79, Harpursville, NY 13787.
