Dr. Joseph T. Tabone, 90, of Sidney, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on February 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph proudly served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1963. Following his military service, he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. After completing his education, he returned to New York and began his practice in Deposit. He relocated to Sidney, NY in 1967 where he continued his practice and faithfully served his Chiropractic Family and community until his retirement in 2005.
Born to the late Gaetano and Domenica (Battista) Tabone, Joseph was a devoted husband, father, Papa, uncle, and brother. A longtime resident of Sidney, he found great joy in his faith, his community, and the simple pleasures of everyday life. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and a faithful churchgoer.
Joseph had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found golfing, fishing, gardening, tending his yard, mowing, grooming, or riding his tractor. He took great pride in caring for his home and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Known especially for his famous meatballs, Joseph expressed his love through food, generosity, and quiet acts of service.
Above all, Joseph truly loved caring for his family, friends, and home, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and unwavering love.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Bonnie; his children, Christine Tabone (Paul Sly), Denise Tabone, Dr. Joseph M. Tabone, and Penny Stevens (John); his ten grandchildren, Andrew Mellon; Patrick Mellon (Lauren Musser); Nicholas Mellon (Jada Goodson); Herbie Lucas; Alex Lucas; Ryan Liguori; Tommy Tabone; Sierra Stevens Tierney (Corey); Tristen Stevens; and Aiden Stevens; and his two great-grandchildren, Gianna and Amara Mellon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; his sisters, Mary Jane Wilkinson and Joyce Edmonds (Thomas).
In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his twin brothers, Thomas Tabone, Jr. and Anthony Tabone (Beverly); his brother Frank Tabone; his sisters Grace Ritchie and Angie Bonocore; and his brother-in-law, Sidney Wilkinson.
Joseph's legacy of dedication to family, service to his country, and commitment to his community will be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved him. Joseph was known by many and loved by all.
Visitation will be held at C. H. Landers Funeral Home; 21 Main St, Sidney NY on Thursday February 19, 2026 from 4-7 pm. Mass Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 15 Liberty St, Sidney, NY on Friday February 20, 2026 at 11:00 am with gathering following at the Parrish Hall.
