Virginia "Ginny" Marino


Virginia "Ginny" Marino, born February 2, 1948, joined her Lord and Savior on December 28, 2025. She is now peacefully reunited with her beloved parents, Dorothy and Nunzio Marino.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Virginia spent the majority of her final years in Sidney, New York. She was a long-time resident of Afton, NY, where she was an active member of St. Agnes, higher ground Christian church, and Berean bible church, She also previously resided in Sumter County, Florida.

A woman of profound faith, Virginia's life was defined by her commitment to her faith and her compassionate heart. This was most evident in her lifelong support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In her professional life, Virginia career was marked by a spirit of service; she worked as a banker in Manhattan in her early years, served as a CNA during her middle years, and later assisted the elderly through Meals on Wheels in Sidney.

Virginia was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Nichols and son-in-law Scott; her cherished grandchildren: Christopher Nichols (Nicole), Andrea Nichols (Rachel), Tatiana Nichols (Kevin), Chelsea McGowan (Tom), and Mollie Vanfleet; and six—soon to be seven—beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Carol Giambalvo of Florida and Maryanne Gabrielle of South Carolina, as well as many dear friends, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Calling hours will be held at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, NY, on January 23, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A service will follow directly after at 3:00 PM. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl Memphis, TN 38105-9959, a cause very close to Virginia's 's heart.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the outstanding care and comfort they provided during Virginia's final days.
