Muriel Johnson went to a better place on December 27, 2025 after a short, aggressive battle with cancer.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Nick Johnson and her parents Robert and Agnes DeFilippo.

She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Johnson (Eric Pedley) and Amy (Don) Spooner; Her twin granddaughters Ashley Spooner and Amanda Spooner; Her sisters Cheryl Jones and Robin (Tom) Bailey; Nieces Christy (Joe) LoPreste, Karyn Norton, Kim Aylesworth, and nephews Brandon (Lauren) Jones, and Blair Aylesworth.

Muriel was a graduate of Sidney high school and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She enjoyed being an active part of the Afton community where she lived for over 50 years. In her earlier days, Muriel was a brownie leader and a business owner (Stones Department Store, Subway Subs and Salads.) Later in life she golfed in the Afton Ladies League and was a member of the Afton Seniors Club. She looked forward to water aerobics, yoga, and weekly card games with her friends.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday January 11th from 1-3 p.m. at CH Landers Funeral Home, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY, with a short service to follow at 3 p.m.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff at UHS Wilson Hospital and Upstate Medical Center, and to her wonderful and caring friends who continually offered support and wished to visit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Glenwood Cemetery.
