Grace Violetta (Howe) Stevens, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Vi was born October 1, 1937 in Sidney, NY, daughter of Leland Howe and Leah Howe Hovey. Family and friends were Vi's delight. She was the last of seven children in her family. Throughout her lifetime she lived in Sidney, Sidney Center, North Afton, Walton, Bainbridge, Huntsville AL, and Unadilla. She graduated from Bainbridge-Guilford High School (Valedictorian) and attended SUCO. She was employed at Bendix Corporation, Mang Insurance and NYS Police Troop C until her retirement in 2003.

On February 23, 1958, Vi married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Richard "Dick" Stevens in the First Baptist Church, Bainbridge. They raised their four children, Terri, Diane, David and Patrick, in the Sidney area. In addition to always being there for her family, there are many she devoted her time to caring for. She was truly an angel to so many.

Vi leaves behind her loving memories to be cherished by her husband, Dick, and by her children, Terri DeRoche and John Payne, Sidney, Diane Feltman, Orlando, Florida, David Stevens, Sidney, and Patrick and Julie Stevens, Sidney. Vi is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Kristopher (Jessica) and Scott DeRoche, Leah, Steven (Christina) and Michael Feltman, Daylon (Shea) Barr and Daressa Stevens (Lawson Williams), and great grandchildren, Michael (Wednesday), Gabrielle and Riley DeRoche-Chase, Lucas Feltman and Aurora Barr. Numerous caring nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.

She was an active member of the Sidney United Methodist Church for many years and previously UCC Congregational Church, Sidney. During those years she served faithfully as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and mentor to many. She sang in the choir for many years (and played the accordion as a young lady!)

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Sidney United Methodist Church, 12 Liberty St. Sidney, NY 13838, with Rev. Brandilynne Craver officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow from noon to 2:00pm in the Fellowship Hall.
