Howard Charles Lake October 15, 1940 – December 28, 2025
Howard Charles Lake, age 85, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at his longtime residence in Guilford, New York.
Howard was a deeply loving and faithful man whose life reflected quiet strength, devotion, and kindness. He put God first in all things and lived out his faith through humility, service, and love for others. He was a longtime member of Sunshine Valley Church in Windsor and, in recent years, greatly enjoyed worship and fellowship at Alive · Wesleyan Church in Kirkville, New York.
Howard found joy in the simple blessings God placed in his life—camping at the lake with his wife, riding his Can-Am, and sharing those moments with his dear friends Sandra Moore and Cheryl Webster. He also treasured the time spent playing cards with friends at Limestone Gardens, where laughter and fellowship brought him great happiness.
A proud United States Army veteran, Howard served his country with honor and integrity. He worked for many years at Raymonds, Amphenol, and Chenango Welding, and later spent much of his life driving tractor-trailers, traveling across much of the United States. In all he did, Howard worked faithfully, taking pride in providing for his family and living responsibly before God.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Lake and Dorothy Lake; his brother, Harold Lake; and the love of his life, Sandra (Griffin) Lake. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Denise Lake; his brother, Ronald (Penny) Lake; his sister, Elsie (Dennis) Lockhart; his grandchildren, Brittany Lake and Derrick (Phyllis) Talbot; two great-granddaughters; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Howard will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steadfast faith, love for family and friends, and the quiet way he reflected Christ to those around him. While his absence will be deeply felt, we rejoice in the promise that he is now whole, at peace, and reunited with loved ones in the presence of the Lord.
Services will be held at South Edmeston Community Church, 4259 County Highway 18, South Edmeston, New York, on January 10, 2026. Calling hours will be held from 9:00–11:00 a.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m.
