Edward Louis Lent

Edward Louis Lent, born October 16, 1950 to the late Kenneth and Ethlyn (Giles) Lent. His arrival was two days after his sister Elma's birthday, making him her special birthday present. Ed passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Verna (Stanton) Lent; daughter, Bobbi Jo Cogshall (David Finch) of Unadilla and son, Sean Lent of Masonville. He was a very special PePa to Tyler DeCocker (Ashley), Wyatt Cogshall (Tia), Mycala Cogshall (Jaymie) and Madison Lent; great PePa to Rowan DeCocker (whom tells stories just like him!) as well as Baby Cogshall due July 2026 and Baby Ticknor due July 2026. Ed will also be missed by his sister, Elma Costello (Sam); brothers, Frank Lent (Doris), Terry "Chico" Lent (Kathy); sister-in-law, Pat Lent; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Longwell) Barbara and Robert Stanton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Kenneth M. Lent and Douglas (Donna) Lent, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carl (Donna) Ketchum and nephew, Josh Longwell.

Ed served in the United States Army serving time in Vietnam before returning to the family farm in Masonville. He spent many years driving truck, retiring from Coventry Transport. He treasured the conversations with many over a cup of black coffee.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City; as well as the many family and friends who made transportation to and from his treatments easier, or whom dropped off food.

A celebration of Ed's life will be announced in the spring.
