Dorcus Cutting of Masonville passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November 29, 2025 in the comfort of her home. She was 97 years old.
She was born on January 17, 1928 in Pennsylvania to Frank and Maude (Williams) Conklin.
Dorcus and her sister Dora (Tootie) lost their mother at a very young age and were raised with the help of a stepmom and family members in Masonville.
Here she met and married Halsey Cutting and together they had four children.
Their home was known to have an open door where everyone was always welcome to stop by and share music, food, laughs, stories, a hot cup of coffee or a cold beer.
She loved music and was quite a good dancer.
Dorcus absolutely adored children and played a huge part in raising not only her own kids and grandkids, but the countless many that passed through her home through the years.
She was an avid animal lover and there was never a time when she didn't have pets living in the house including dogs, cats and her beloved birds.
Dorcus worked at Amphenol in Sidney until she retired from the molding department at the age of 86. She was loved and respected by all of her fellow coworkers. She was known to have an amazing work ethic, a cheerful disposition and a fabulous sense of humor.
She was a devout Jehovah's Witness and spent many hours in Service and at The Kingdom Hall.
Dorcus was a very stubborn lady that was going to do things her way, no matter what, and she succeeded in doing just that until the very end.
She loved her family very much and she would do anything needed to help any of them at any time.
Dorcus was preceded in death by her husband Halsey, her sister Dora and her children Kenneth and William.
She is survived by her son Gerald, her daughter Jayne, her grandchildren Zachary, Rebecca, Matthew, Jarred, Josie, Joshua, Ricky, Darren, Nevin and Tagan as well as several great and great, great-grandchildren.
Dorcus Cutting was a woman that people are proud to have known. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
Her remains will be put to rest alongside her husband Halsey at the Masonville Cemetery in the spring.
A celebration to honor the life of Dorcus will be held at a later date.
