Walter S. “Corky” O’Hara, 69, of Bainbridge, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.

He was born in Sidney on April 16, 1956, son of the late Perry and Clara (Ingalls) O’Hara. Following graduation, he served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps.

Corky was best known for his life in the car business as the owner/operator of Chambers & O’Hara Truck Center. He was celebrated as the Business of the Years in 2008 and retired in 2023 after 50 years in the business. He also served his community as a member of the Bainbridge Rotary Club where he was also a Paul Harris Fellow.

Cork’s passion for cars extended into everything racing. He loved to travel to the races with his kids and grandkids. He was the NYS Stock Car Association Owner of the Year in 2019.

Corky also enjoyed camping, hiking, horse racing and sports, but his greatest pleasure came from spending time with his family and friends and watching his kids and grandkids play sports.

He will be missed by his wife, Janine O’Hara; three children: Bryan O’Hara, Haley (Andrew) Davis and Bridget Engel; grandchildren: Nathaniel (Erika) O’Hara, Celeste Baldwin, Jackson Davis, Allie Davis and Charlotte Davis; brother, Andrew “Frog” (Deborah) O’Hara; sisters, Sally (Wally) Olson, Andrea (William) Walters, Kelly (Clinton) Hall; sister-in-law, Kathy O’Hara, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Lillian (Alfred) Gilbertsen, Wayne “Mike” (Beverly) O’Hara, Judith O’Hara Albracht, and Daniel “Booner” O’Hara.

Friends are invited to call from 10:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A celebration of his life will follow from 5:00-8:00pm at the Sidney American Legion. Cork was an avid animal lover. Those wishing to make a donation in his memory, consider directing it to an animal shelter of choice.
