Stephen A. Tiska Jr. Obituary

Stephen Tiska, The Prince of Pine Hill, husband, father, son, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on October 30 of 2025. Stephen was raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. He grew up playing in the streets, alleys and sand lots of Old Greenwich. He told stories of taking the subway going to baseball games at the old New York stadiums like the Polo Grounds and Ebbet’s Field. He told a story about how he and his friends were able to sneak into a ball game with the umpires if they would carry the umpire’s equipment bags.

In his final year of high school, Steve’s family moved to Masonville, NY. There the family operated a small dairy farm on the sparsely populated Pine Hill Rd. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Army where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant as an engineer in 3rd and47th Infantry Divisions. Stephen didn’t have any formal training, but he applied for a position at Bendix, the predecessor to Amphenol, as a draftsman. Despite his lack of technical ability, he had a knack for drawing and a keen eye for detail, as his father had gone to school to be an architect before the 1929 Wall

Street crash brough upon the Great Depression. During the wedding of his brother Mike to Virgina Tiska (Clum), Steve met the love of his life, Kathleen Boardman. Soon after, on a beautiful April day 1961 Steve and Kathy became one. While pregnant with their first child they built their home on a piece of the family farm Steve’s father had gifted them. There they raised three sons, Theodore, Gregory, and Daniel. All of whom had children, Steve’s greatest source of joy was his grandchildren, Katie, Cassidy, Brian, Brody, Ben, Sam, Ruby and born this past summer, his great granddaughter, Sunnie. He was at every game, event, and was a rock to his entire family. Whether it was the supporting shoulder to lean on or solving household problems with his own designs and methods.

Stephen was not only a dedicated family man, he was a man of his community. He regularly attended town board meetings and was always on the forefront of protecting the interests of the town. Stephen lived happily and fully until his last days where he passed surrounded by family, making jokes and laughing.

Stephen was predeceased by his sons Daniel and Gregory and grandson David.

Stephen is survived by his wife Kathy, his son eldest Theodore, his younger siblings Michael of Sidney, Suzie of Afton, and Joan of the Boston area and his grandchildren, Katie, Cassidy, Brian, Brody, Ben and Sam as well as many more family members that stretch the country from coast to coast.

Steve will always be known for his almost painful sense of humor, his stalwart honesty, and his kind and generous heart. Long Live the Prince.
