George A. Sayler Obituary

George A. Sayler, 93, of Trout Creek, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. He was born in Bad Wörishofen, Bavaria, Germany on September 30, 1932, the only child of the late Alolph and Frances (Schmid) Sayler.


He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, finishing his education at Newark Central Evening High School in 1959. He then studied mechanical engineering at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was married to Mary Ellen Snyder in 1958 in Butler, NJ.


George began his career at Kearfott in Wayne, NJ in April 1955, eventually retiring as an Engineering Support Supervisor after many years.


In his earlier days he enjoyed skiing, hunting, swimming and golf. He was a member of Doc’s Snowmobile Club and American Legion Post 423, Milton, New Jersey.


He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Sayler of Trout Creek; three children: Charlene (Tom) Scott, George (Naty) Sayler, and Debbie (Karl) Blomback; daughter-in-law, Marlis Sayler; 5 grandchildren: Bill Sayler, Karl Blomback Jr., Kayla Lee, Nicole Scott and Jason Scott; as well as 2 great-grandchildren.


He was predeceased by his son, William in 2015.


Friends are invited to call from 1:00-3:00pm on Monday, November 10, 2025 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A memorial service will begin at 3:00pm at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in George's memory may be directed to the Trout Creek Fire Department.


Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
