M. Alfredine Duguay, 92, of Sidney, NY passed away on October 16, 2025, while at home with her family.

Alfredine was born on July 5, 1933, in Lamèque, New Brunswick to parents Warry Godin and Parmala (Chiasson) Godin. She was the beloved wife of Francis Duguay; they married on August 1, 1959, in Lamèque, New Brunswick and recently celebrated their 66thWedding Anniversary.

Alfredine is survived by her husband Francis, her son Daniel F. and wife Angela (Ciniglia) Duguay, daughter Lynda A. (Duguay) and husband Charles Michel, three sisters, Elise-Anne Ferron, Noela Chiasson, and Mildred Godin; she was predeceased by a brother Herménègilde Godin. She had four adoring grandchildren, Krista (Duguay) and husband Robert McKeown, Nicholas and wife Lauren (Keane) Michel, Daniel J. and wife Annie (Henry) Duguay, and Samuel Michel. She was blessed with two great grandchildren, Bobby McKeown and Mae Michel.

Alfredine was a long-time member and daily communicant of the Sacred Heart Church in Sidney. She was an active member of the Rosary Society, bereavement committee, and Harvest Festival craft booth. She served as a Eucharistic Minister which led her to visit many home bound and nursing home residents bringing comfort and smiles to many.

Alfredine was an accomplished storyteller and had a gift for laughter, capturing the attention of many as she recounted the many stories of her youth on Shippigan Island, early adult life in Montreal, and young immigrant wife to Francis in rural Upstate NY.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be sorely missed.

The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of Helios Care Hospice and Ericka Rose for their exceptional care and kindness during Alfredine’s final days.

Visitation will be held at CH Landers Funeral Home 21 Main St. Sidney, NY Monday, October 20, 2026, from 4-6pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church 15 Liberty St. Sidney, NY Tuesday, October 21, 2026, at 10am with Fr. Bernard Osei Ampong officiating.
