Irving G. Palmer Obituary

Irving G. Palmer, 96, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born February 21, 1929 to Niles Palmer and Doris (Camp) Palmer of Rockdale, NY.

When he wasn't at school, working at the family sawmill or helping out a neighbor he could be found hunting or fishing. Had a great love of the outdoors and loved nothing more in his later years to regale anyone within ear shot of a story.

Irving married the love of his life, Norma Grace Hyatt in East Guilford on Friday, October 13, 1950. Together they had six sons. A man of many talents, he built the house they called home for the last 67 years. He spent his entire career at Scintilla/Bendix. Though only a high school graduate, he worked his way up to manufacturing engineer, something he took great pride in.

Irving and Norma enjoyed square dancing, bowling and family vacations. They both greatly enjoyed their annual trips out to the camp on Bois Blanc Island, Michigan, and anytime family came around.

Irv was a talented woodworker and spent many an hour in the garage building his crates.

He was predeceased by Norma, his wife of 73 years in 2024; his sisters, Eleanor Van Vranken and Barbara Gilbert, brothers, Jimmy, Robert and Marvin.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Lola Palmer. Also surviving are his six sons: Thomas (Violet), Clifford, Steven (Lydia), William, Patrick (Nancy) and Scott (Janine); seven grandchildren: Kalista Palmer, Travis Palmer (Monica), Robin Zagurski (TJ), Amanda Huling (Ian), Natalie Palmer (Ryan), Kerri Palmer, Kenny Palmer (Grace) and Rebecca Palmer; four great grandchildren: Max Huling, Lilly Huling, Connor Huling and Paige Zagurski.

Calling hours will be Friday, October 24th from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral

Chapel in Sidney. Family will have a private burial at the East Guilford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Guilford Cemetery Association or the Delaware Valley Humane Society. Share condolences and memories online at www.landersfh.com.
