Charles Ernest Boyd, age 86, died September 29, 2025 at his home in Ovid, NY.

Chuck (known as Charlie in his early days) was born on August 9, 1939 to the late Ronald Axtell Boyd and Anna Pauline (Polly) LeSeur. He grew up on a farm located on the site of the present- day Underwood Heights development near Wells Bridge, NY. As a high school sophomore, he moved to Newton Hollow Rd, Bainbridge. He graduated from Bainbridge-Guilford High School in 1957. He served in the Army from a 1957 through 1961.

Chuck was a truck driver for most of his life, delivering milk for Whitakers, bread for Victory Markets; laminated rafters and other wood products for Una-Lam, fuel for Mirabito, home goods for Caretta, and milk for Coventry Transport. After officially retiring he continued his career on the road delivering cars for Royal Chrysler and food for the United Methodist food bank.

He proudly spoke of his many years playing Santa for family and local organizations. He enjoyed making furniture and wooden decorations. He was a community minded man; over the course of his life he volunteered for the Unadilla Fire Department, was a founding member of the Unadilla Polo Club, a member of the Unadilla Snowmobile Club, Loping Loafers Riding club and The Covered Bridge Squares dance club. He was a long-time, active member of the United Methodist Church of Unadilla.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers: Lloyd Boyd and Carl Boyd, his twin that died in infancy, and two sisters Ruth Underwood and Linda Tompkins.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol. His children Lorraine Boyd Corneilson (Brian) of Elizabethtown, KY, Steven Charles Boyd (Cheryl) of Haverhill, MA, Michael Robert Decker (Michelle) of Pueblo West, CO, and Barbara Jean Mott of Ovid, NY. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at CH Landers in Sidney, NY October 2, 2025 from 6 to 8 pm with a Memorial Service at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or charity of your choice.
