Jo Ann Warner, 83, of Guilford, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27,2025 at home surrounded by her family.
Born on May 30, 1942 in Susquehanna, PA, beloved daughter to Donald Wheeler and Josephine (Avery) Beebe. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Gerald (Buster) and Donley (Bubby) Wheeler, her sisters, Shirley Kelsey and Arlyn (Sookie) Cronan, her stepfather, Howard C. Beebe, and her beloved daughter, Pamela Jo (Warner) Rhoades.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years John L. Warner, her son, Craig D. Warner
(Tami), of Owego NY, her daughter, Jennifer L. Scofield (Alan) of Greene NY, her son-in-law CJ Rhoades of York Pa, her 8 cherished grandchildren, and her 3 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other nieces' nephews and pets.
Jo Ann worked in Bendix for many years in cost accounting and payroll, as well as in the First National Bank in Sidney. In 1979 she started Family Care providing in her home for 21 years. She was a devoted wife and mother. Jo Ann was truly selfless and once won the Mother of the Year award on the NBC Today Show after donating bone marrow to her daughter Pamela. She was a remarkable cook and baker, remembered by her family for her pies, potato and macaroni salad, molasses raisin cookies, cakes, and rum fudge. She often donated baked goods to the bake sales at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Sidney to which she was a member. Jo Ann was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. One of her favorite past times was traveling with her husband John to Cape Cod on their yearly anniversary trip. They also did several cruises to places like Aruba and Belize. She and John truly lived life to its fullest. Jo Ann and John also shared a great love for music and dancing. From polka dancing, square dancing, to line dancing they were known by family and friends to cut up the rug! After retirement Jo Ann and John spent winters in Punta Gorda, Florida enjoying the beautiful beaches, bluegrass festivals, parties and outings with friends, and making many lasting friendships. Jo Ann enjoyed nothing more than when her kids and grandchildren would visit her and John in Florida and go beach hopping. JoAnn also enjoyed playing cards, dominos, word puzzles and board games. She loved bird watching, vegetable gardening, tea parties, and going to the pond to feed their coy fish with her grandchildren.
Jo Ann had an infectious smile and warm loving personality that will forever be missed by all that loved her, and everyone that knew her.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 2, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Calling hours will be from 12–2 p.m., followed by a service beginning at 2:00.
