Frances Schurga, 85, of Sidney Center, NY, passed away on August 30, 2025, at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. She had been a resident of Springbrook's Pine Creek Community Home since July 2024, having previously lived at the Mountainside Community Home.

Frances was born on December 14, 1939, in New York, NY, and was known for her spirited personality and always speaking her mind. She enjoyed trips where she could "people watch" and share her lively commentary about the things or people she would see.

A true coffee lover, Frances never turned down a cup, especially when it was sweetened with plenty of French vanilla creamer. One of her many joys was participating in the Day Habilitation program, referring to it as 'work'. She enjoyed listening to country music, shopping, playing cards and Bingo, and creating crafts such as using plastic canvas and beaded jewelry. Frances also shared a close bond with her dear friend Maggie McLellan, who always knew how to bring her peace and laughter.

Frances will be remembered for her energetic nature, sharp wit, and the joy she brought to those around her. Frances will be missed by her friends and caregivers at Springbrook.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney, NY 13838.
