Margaret Ruth McLellan Obituary

Margaret "Maggie" McLellan, 85, passed away on August 27, 2025, at her home at Springbrook's Pine Creek Community Home.

Born on October 22, 1939, in New York, NY, Maggie first lived at Joshua House before moving to Pine Creek in 2010. She spent many happy years enjoying crafts, playing Bingo, and even running the money table at the local annual craft fair.

Maggie was known for her kindness and warmth. She loved writing and receiving letters, and always carried a small notebook in her apron to keep track of names and addresses. She had a beautiful way of remembering and celebrating people—never forgetting a birthday and delighting in singing to others on their special day. Maggie also loved singing old songs as well, clapping with joy when others joined in.

Knitting and baking were among her greatest passions, and she could often be found with her knitting bag close by, making scarves and blankets for friends and peers. She cherished visits from children and pets, and babies always held a special place in her heart. Maggie remained deeply connected to her family, especially her sister Bonnie, with whom she shared weekly Sunday phone calls.

Her adventures included annual trips to Niagara Falls, which she delighted in helping to plan. She loved boats, laughter, prayer, and the simple joy of being together. Maggie had a true gift for making everyone feel special and for offering prayers and comfort whenever someone was in need.

She is survived by her sisters, Bonnie Brewer of Charlottesville, VA and Lillias Rose; and she was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Eileen Jeck. Maggie will be remembered for her generous spirit, her radiant smile, and her ability to brighten the lives of those around her.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, NY 13838.
